A Rail Guided Vehicle (RGV) is an automated material handling device capable of transporting goods along fixed tracks and performing fully automatic unloading. To improve the operational efficiency and safety of RGV robots, communication technology plays a critical role in their application.
In RGV robot systems, common communication methods include wireless network communications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, 5G, etc. Wireless network communication offers advantages such as high scalability, no need for cabling, and simple installation. However, in harsh industrial environments like factories and warehouses, wireless signals are susceptible to interference. When the vehicle is moving at high speed, communication latency increases and disconnections occur easily, resulting in unstable communication. Moreover, in certain special applications, wireless network communication may be prohibited for data security reasons.
Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC) uses the RGV's track cables as the transmission medium, providing high-speed, stable, and reliable real-time data transmission without the need for additional cabling and without being affected by external interference. A BPLC master device is installed in the power cabinet, and a BPLC slave device is installed on each RGV vehicle. By utilizing the existing physical hardwired connection of power lines, the system enables self-forming networks, data encryption, and bidirectional stable high-speed communication.
Advantages of Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC):
(1) High Bandwidth: 100M/1000M bandwidth, fast transmission rate..
(2) Low Latency: Latency less than 10 ms.
(3) Self-Forming Network: Self-forming network with self-routing. Supports one-master-one-slave or one-master-multi-slave configurations.
(4) Data Transparent Transmission: Supports transparent transmission of Ethernet data without protocol conversion.
(5) Secure and Reliable: Master and slave devices communicate via physical hardwired carrier communication through the slide wire. Data encryption ensures complete reliability.
(6) Simple and Easy to Use: No need for cabling, simple installation, plug-and-play.
