Underwater robots/pipeline robots need to work underwater or in pipelines，the host computer needs to monitor the state of the robot in real time and issue operation instructions,the robot transmits the video to the host computer in real time. Because of its special use environment, how to establish stable and reliable real-time communication between the host computer and the robot?

The first communication method to be considered is the CAT6A. The maximum transmission distance of the cable is only 100 meters; the signal attenuation above 100 meters is very serious. In the actual application environment, most scenes will exceed 100 meters, and the transmission distance cannot meet the actual requirements. And the wire in the process of operation is constantly stretching, prone to disconnection.

Optical fiber is not interfered with by electromagnetic noise because of its transmission, and the distance is far and the bandwidth is high, which is also used in underwater robots. However, the optical fiber needs to be customized, is easy to break, has a high failure rate, and is expensive.

The broadband carrier is used to make full use of the two-core power line, and high-speed, long-distance transmission can be achieved. The speed is up to 100M, and the transmission distance of ordinary power line can reach 500 meters, the transmission distance of shielded twisted pair can reach 1000 meters, and the transmission distance of coaxial cable can reach 2000 meters.
